I took these pictures along Berkeley and Emeryville waterfronts, two days after the bay bridge oil spill. 58,000 gallons of fuel oil were spilled. This seems to be much worse than crude oil. I heard stories of wetsuits and rubber boots being dissolved! The bay smells like kerosene, and one gets quickly lightheaded when near it. Very sad, indeed.
A boom across the mouth of the Berkeley Marina, to keep the oil out. No boats going in or out. I'm told that any boat that goes out into the oil will need to be repainted, because it doesn't wash off.
